Towards an European Freight and Fleet Management Architecture Standard

Based upon experience of the Transport Telematics EU research programme, work in the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) in Technical Committee TC 278/WG2 has resulted in a common Architecture Reference Model, a Refined Architecture Model and definitions of terms for Freight and Fleet Management Systems(FFMS) information applications; intermodality has been taken into account. This article presents an overview of this standard, which has an ENV status per January 1997. It highlights the used Object Oriented techniques OMT and VDM .
